Clean Slate Filmz (Previously known as Clean Slate Films) is an Indian film production and distribution company established by actress Anushka Sharma and her brother Karnesh Ssharma in October 2013. Based in Mumbai, it mainly produces and distributes Hindi films and web series. Recently Karnesh Ssharma confirmed that the production house is planning the release of eight projects. A massive influx of Rs 400 crore stands behind this big chunk of films that Clean Slate Filmz is planning to release on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and other OTT platforms. In the past, they had a super successful outing with Paatal Lok, which came out on Amazon Prime Video in 2020. As of now, the announced project, Chakda ‘Xpress on Netflix, seems to pack a strong punch.
Clean Slate Filmz, in the past, has also tasted success with NH10, a movie on honour killings in India, which also starred Anushka Sharma and was released in the theatres. However, with OTT rising, it only makes sense to flood money into these projects. In fact, with the competition getting thick and Amazon & Walt Disney Co. (which now owns Disney+ Hotstar, formerly Hotstar), Netflix recently cut down their subscription costs by 60%. The monthly plan, which earlier was priced at Rs 649/month, now costs Rs 199/month.
Along with Chakda ‘Xpress, a thriller series Mai and drama film Qala are two other confirmed projects that will be coming to Netflix, produced by Clean Slate Filmz.
